About The Position

Buildings & General Services at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Maintenance Specialist. This position will be responsible for buildings and facilities maintenance for the Northwest District, primarily throughout the St. Albans area. The ideal candidate will have a valid Journeyman Electrician's license. This is a full-time position and the schedule is 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks.

Requirements

• State licensure at or above the journeyman level in any trade area.
• Four (4) or more years of experience in building maintenance or construction, structural maintenance, or landscaping/grounds INCLUDING one (1) or more year in a specialized trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pesticide).
• Valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of multiple background checks.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Journeyman Electrician's license.
• Experience in carpentry, welding, locksmithing, public water systems operations, horticultural, and/or pesticide application.

Responsibilities

• Perform buildings and facilities maintenance for the Northwest District, primarily throughout the St. Albans area.
• Climb ladders.
• Lift weights up to 75 pounds.
• Work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas.
• Stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and sit for extended periods of time.
• Work in all types of weather.
