About The Position

Battle Ground Academy (BGA) is seeking enthusiastic, child-centered individuals to join its Early Learning Center (ELC) extended care programs for the 2026-2027 academic year. This part-time, ten-month position operates from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, offering flexible scheduling within a dynamic school community. Under the guidance of the ELC Extended Care Director and school administration, staff will implement engaging social, recreational, and educational programs while ensuring student well-being. The role involves supervising children aged 3 to 5 years old, organizing games, crafts, art activities, and sports, and assisting with general logistics. The hiring process will begin in late June 2026, with an anticipated start date of Monday, August 21, 2026, which is flexible. Typical available hours are Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM when school is in session, with flexibility for student worker schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum of in-progress High school or College degree
  • Reliable transportation to and from campus for your assigned shift(s)

Nice To Haves

  • Childcare Experience: 1 year
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Knowledge of child behavior, development, and learning patterns
  • Knowledge of basic standards of child health and safety
  • Knowledge of diverse cultural communities and backgrounds
  • Major in Education is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Implementing engaging social, recreational, and educational programs.
  • Ensuring the well-being of students.
  • Supervising children ages 3 to 5 years old.
  • Organizing games, crafts, art activities, and sports.
  • Assisting with general logistics of the program.
  • Role-modeling positive behavior for students.
  • Overseeing and monitoring students in Prek3 - Junior Kindergarten.
  • Providing a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Recognizing conflict between students and providing guidance and coping skills.
  • Interacting with individuals, small groups, and large groups of students with tact and patience.
  • Understanding and relating to children.
  • Observing health and safety regulations.
  • Learning, following, and explaining school rules, regulations, policies, and daily practices of program operations.
  • Respectfully interacting with BGA faculty, students, and parents.
  • Working collaboratively as a part of the After Care team.
