About The Position

Resurrection has an opening for an Early Learning Center Assistant Director in our Business Operations division! The position is part-time, non-exempt and is located at 8412 W 95th St, Overland Park, KS 66212. As a member of the Learning Centers team, the Assistant Director is responsible for supporting and working with the Program Director to oversee and operate a program that provides a warm and nurturing environment where each child can grow in confidence knowing that they are safe and loved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in child development/early childhood education or a related academic discipline.

  • Knowledge of children’s physical, social-emotional, and cognitive developmental norms.
  • Familiar with advocacy issues that affect young children, their families, and professionals in early education.
  • Knowledge of state licensing regulations.
  • Actively supervise children and engage in daily childcare activities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor to interact with children during play and learning activities.
  • Lift, carry, and assist children weighing up to approximately 40 pounds when necessary for caregiving, safety, or classroom activities.
  • Get up and down from the floor frequently throughout the day.
  • Navigate stairs safely, both ascending and descending, when applicable in the facility.
  • Stand for extended periods of time, up to one hour at a time.
  • See, hear, and respond quickly to children and environmental situations to ensure safety and supervision.
  • Respond appropriately during high-stress or emergency situations, including following all facility safety procedures.
  • Be free from physical, mental, or emotional conditions that would prevent them from protecting the health, safety, and welfare of children.
  • Demonstrate emotional maturity, sound judgment, and an understanding of children’s developmental needs.
  • Be able to perform job duties without impairment due to alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs, or other substances.
  • Comply with all health documentation requirements, including tuberculosis screening if required by role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of the day-to-day operation of the program in keeping with its philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage adherence to licensing requirements, keeping staff up to date, maintaining required classroom and program documentation and records, and helping with annual inspections.
  • Assist the Director, Curriculum Specialist, and staff in planning a balanced program that provides developmentally appropriate care and education for young children in the following areas: spiritual; cognitive; small and large motor; health, safety, nutrition, and social-emotional.
  • Assist Director with weekly chapel planning and execution, ensuring they are in line with the theological beliefs of the United Methodist Church, including follow-up activities in the classroom.
  • Assist Director and Curriculum Specialist with staff professional development planning and training: researching other ways for staff to receive in service hours.
  • Assist Director in supervising and managing staff and maintaining staff records.
  • Assist Director with spiritual development of staff.
  • Assist Director in maintaining student files.
  • Assist Director in planning classroom, extra programming, and outdoor time schedules and/or other shared space.
  • Plan and implement extra program activities such as field trips, book fair, pizza parties, family events, etc.
  • Assist teachers as needed with classroom management, break schedules, emergency substitutes, curriculum implementation, parent involvement, and areas of concern.
  • Assist Director with enrollment inquiries and processes, providing tours.
  • Maintain digital records and systems.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on an as needed basis: before and after school, and/or by appointment.
  • Available to remain on the premises and visible while the program is in session.
