We are seeking a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Application Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between Sales, Customers, and Engineering teams for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The BESS Application Engineer will drive project proposals, size systems, control schemes, create conceptual designs, and provide technical guidance during the design, construction, and commissioning phases to ensure optimal technical and commercial solutions.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and in written form.
Familiarity with NEC codes and basic electrical calculations for PV design.
Ability to complete assignments both effectively and efficiently.
Ability to interpret relevant industry codes, processes, and understand products in an engineering capacity.
Must be able to represent Harvest Solar in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, tradeshow attendees, and any other contacts outside the Harvest organization.
Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office suite, email etiquette, and design software.
Willingness to pursue industry certifications and further education.
Valid State Driver’s License; non-restricted or suspended, is required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
Minimum of five years’ relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

BESS system design experience preferred.
Supervisor experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of the solar BESS markets, preferred.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification, preferred.
NABCEP Energy Storage Installation Professional Certification (ESIP), preferred.

Responsibilities

Analyze RFPs/RFQs, provide system architecture, and create technical proposals for both stand-alone and PV coupled BESS.
Develop and provide training for the Sales team on product offerings, financial models, and BESS operating modes.
Model and size BESS projects using software tools and 3rd party consultation, including DC/AC configuration, inverter pairing, use-case, and manufacturer documentation review.
Act as the technical expert in customer meetings to present solutions, clarify specifications, and negotiate technical exhibits.
Collaborate with Engineering teams (internal and external) to finalize layouts and single lines.
Provide guidance to Project Management teams for design, construction, and commissioning schedules.
Support construction activities, storage, handling, delivery procedures, and installation methods.
Support commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and site verification of systems.
Occasional travel, as needed for sales support and to ensure the quality of system installation.
Required to successfully pursue NABCEP Professional certification.
All other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.

Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity are available at the associate’s expense.
Harvest Solar 401k Plan: Associates are auto enrolled at a 3% deferral rate.
Company match is available for 401k contributions.
Annual Bonus Target representing 5% of your annual base salary/annual wages is paid based on meeting both organizational and individual targets.
