About The Position

The Berklee India Exchange Communications Clerk provides support to the BIX team in day-to-day tasks, as well as in large-scale and long-term projects. The BIX Communications Clerk will be responsible for responding to inquiries received per Email and Social Media using given templates, maintaining the BIX Archives, as well as assisting in logistical work for upcoming shows and events. This position also provides opportunities to explore creative work in Marketing/ Social Media and creative writing, as well as industry experience working with hired musicians, vendors and partners. The BIX Communications Clerk will develop skills in professional communication, pre- and post-production work, event and concert logistics, and archiving with the assistance and guidance of their supervisor, the BIX team and their peers. This is a long term position.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Strong English writing, reading, and communication skills
  • Effective knowledge of the Google Workspaces, particularly Google Mail (+ utilizing templates); Google Drive, Docs & Sheets; Google Calendar
  • Basic knowledge of Facebook & Instagram, with the ability to utilize their messenger functions, incl. template responses
  • Very comfortable using technology and learning new tools and platforms
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and complete tasks on time
  • Ability to work well with others, and to take direction on tasks and projects
  • Organized, motivated, attentive to detail, punctual, and sensitive to confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Creative Writing interests or experience
  • Experience with photo, audio or video editing (or all of the above)
  • Knowledge and Experience with Social Media platforms & their respective trends

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries received per Email and Social Media, utilizing given templates or referring to a supervisor for assistance regularly
  • Maintain and organize the BIX Archives (hard drives, scattered files & Google Drive) regularly
  • Support BIX Team with incoming concert and workshop requests
  • Arrange and schedule meetings for the BIX Team (and other parties)
  • Host Explore Series events and assist featured artists
  • Support South Asian Scholar Association team
  • Assist the BIX Team with Research
  • Hands-on production work (e.g. rehearsals, sound checks, etc.)
  • Print & distribution of materials (sheet music, posters, contracts/ waivers, etc.)
  • Miscellaneous projects
