About The Position

Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home is an inpatient facility for patients receiving hospice care. It is staffed 24/7 and provides expert medical care, symptom management, and emotional and spiritual support through a multidisciplinary team. The Bereavement Counselor provides direct pastoral care to patients and families at Spartanburg Hospital for Hospice House, supports patients, caregivers, families, and staff, and serves on an interdisciplinary team. The role also serves as a liaison to patients and families receiving Palliative Care services at Hospice House. Other responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited seminary.
• Minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education.
• Minimum of 2 years of ministerial experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to withstand long hours of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, and bending.
• Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Manual dexterity, good eye/hand coordination, acceptable vision, and hearing needed in daily work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with command of the English language.
• Ability to sit and view a computer monitor for extended periods.
• Ability to travel extensively each day.
• Extensive critical-thinking and judgment skills.
• Ability to work as a team member with peers, department managers, staff, and administration.
• Strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Board Certification or eligibility for Board Certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct pastoral care for patients and families at Spartanburg Hospital for Hospice House.
• Act as a support person for patients, caregivers, families, and staff.
• Serve as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Serve as a liaison to patients and families receiving Palliative Care services at Hospice House.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
