About The Position

Under general direction, provides strategic leadership for comprehensive employee benefits and well-being programs that serve as the foundation for a competitive employee benefits package and long-term benefits strategy, while supervising professional staff and serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership; and performs related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a genuine curiosity for benefits and the effect on an employee's life, career, and family. They will embody emotional intelligence, discretion, and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and compassion. They should be able to simplify complexity, making benefits, retirement, and wellness concepts easy to understand and act upon. A continuous improvement, innovation, and sound judgment mindset is desired, along with the ability to build trust through consistency, credibility, confidentiality, and follow-through. The role involves continually seeking opportunities to enhance employee well-being at the City of Henderson.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional-level experience administering employee benefit programs or other complementary human resources functions.
  • At least two years of supervisory, management, or program-lead responsibility.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).
  • Certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) or the Public Sector Human Resources Association (PSHRA).
  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis.

  • Competitive Salary Range of $103,955.10 - $155,932.64 annually
