Alliance Animal Health is seeking an experienced Benefits Specialist to support the administration, compliance, and optimization of employee benefits, leave of absence programs, and insurance claims oversight across a growing, multi-state organization. This role is crucial for ensuring benefits programs remain competitive and compliant. The ideal candidate should possess strong regulatory knowledge, analytical skills, vendor management experience, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration and leave management
  • Experience supporting benefits programs across multiple states
  • Knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related regulations
  • Experience working with benefits brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators
  • Strong analytical skills with experience reviewing claims or cost data
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
  • FMLA and ADA experience

Nice To Haves

  • CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar certification
  • Experience in high-growth or multi-site organizations
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed teams

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the organization’s employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, and the 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Partner with leadership and benefits brokers to review plan performance, analyze claims and utilization trends, support renewals, and ensure programs remain competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Oversee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, disability, ADA accommodations, and multi-state leave laws, while serving as a resource for complex leave matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations such as ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and Section 125, support required reporting and audits, and maintain accurate plan documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators to support renewals, resolve service issues, and ensure effective program delivery.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment planning and communications.
  • Provide guidance to teammates and HR partners on benefits-related questions.
  • Help create clear benefits education materials.
  • Support ongoing process improvements, HRIS reporting, and system optimization to enhance efficiency and scalability as the organization continues to grow.
