If you’re excited to learn more about us, we can’t wait to learn more about you. Role Summary American Century Investments is seeking a Benefit Specialist to join the Benefits team. The Benefits Specialist is responsible in assisting with the day-to-day administration, auditing, and employee support of multiple health and welfare benefit programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate administration, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience. The Benefits Specialist partners closely with employees, vendors, Payroll, and HR team members to resolve issues, educate employees, and maintain benefit data integrity, primarily within Workday. This role is well‑suited for early‑career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in benefits administration. This role reports to the Director of HR Operations & Analytics. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, MO office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and empathetically with employees at all levels, including executives, as well as with external providers and carriers.
  • Extremely high attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; able to efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Proficient in analyzing and resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Comfort working with reports, data, and system tools.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Co-Pilot.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong initiative to seek knowledge, understand, problem solve, and innovate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems, particularly Workday.
  • Previous experience with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with company benefit and retirement plan administration including auditing plans to ensure accurate elections, payroll deductions and compliance.
  • Assist employees with Workday benefit elections.
  • Monitor enrollment files and follow up with employees to resolve incomplete enrollments.
  • Responds to employee inquiries about eligibility, changes, enrollments and benefit plan interpretation.
  • Acts as a liaison between vendors, internal teams and employees to resolve questions and/or issues.
  • Update benefit policies and procedures annually or as needed.
  • Maintain monthly utilization reports and assist with benefits invoices.
  • Promotes benefits by hosting webinars, presenting new hire orientation, and working with internal communications department to educate employees on available benefits.
  • Acts as project coordinator for benefit projects driving to key milestones and project timelines.
  • Perform basic Workday maintenance running and validating reports and testing configuration changes.
