About The Position

Our client administers retirement, insurance, and other benefit programs for state and local government employees and retirees. The Benefits Specialist supports operational staff and management in the administration of public employee benefit programs. This role requires learning and applying complex benefit rules related to eligibility, enrollment, benefit applications, and distributions across multiple programs. The position involves working with highly sensitive and complex member data, ensuring accurate updates and remediation, and translating technical benefit information into clear, member‑friendly communications. Initial assignments will focus on supporting benefits administration modernization initiatives, including research, analysis, and correction of data issues during system conversions. As business needs require, the role may also include daily operational processing and direct member communication.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and remediate benefit data during system modernization and conversion initiatives
  • Accurately update and maintain member demographic and benefit account information
  • Process benefit program transactions, including: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Vision and Dental Insurance, Medicare‑related benefits
  • Interpret and apply Wisconsin statutes, administrative codes, policies, and procedures
  • Communicate complex benefit information clearly via phone, email, and written correspondence
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely benefit administration
  • Handle confidential information in compliance with privacy and security requirements
  • Manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards
