About The Position

The Benefits Program Administrator will join the Food & Nutrition Team and support many different roles within a very fast-paced environment. The BPA will support not only the ESD Program Managers and Benefit Program Assistant Administrators, but also the Food & Nutrition Program Director. This team is responsible for administering the 3SVT program (SNAP), and many other sub-programs. Collaboration with the USDA's Food & Nutrition Administration, community partners and advocates of VT, and many other state liaisons will be a part of day-to-day work. A high degree of independence and teamwork is required, managing many different priorities at once and shifting focus depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years or more at a professional level in human services, education, employment and training programs, policy development, data processing, or program management INCLUDING two (2) years or more of managerial or supervisory duties.
  • Master's degree AND two (2) years or more of managerial or supervisory duties in human services, education, employment and training programs, policy development, data processing, or program management.
  • Two years of full-time college coursework OR associate's degree AND six (6) years or more at a professional level in human services, education, employment and training programs, policy development, data processing, or program management INCLUDING two (2) years or more of managerial or supervisory duties.
  • Eight (8) years of more at a professional level in human services, education, employment and training programs, policy development, data processing, or program management INCLUDING two (2) years or more of managerial or supervisory duties.
  • Pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Responsibilities

  • Administering the 3SVT program (SNAP), and many other sub-programs.
  • Collaboration with the USDA's Food & Nutrition Administration, community partners and advocates of VT, and many other state liaisons.
  • Managing many different priorities at once and shifting focus depending on business needs.
  • Resolve troublesome employee problems and applicant cases.
  • Testify at fair hearing and court cases, or before legislative committees.
