About The Position

This role involves conducting client interviews and performing in-depth assessments to determine eligibility for financial and medical assistance programs. The worker will navigate complex benefit program policies, use systems like VaCMS to process applications, track cases, and document outcomes. They will make timely, sound decisions, ensure documentation accuracy, refer clients to resources, and maintain a focus on service delivery and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Prior experience determining eligibility for TANF, SNAP, and Medicaid
  • Proficiency in Virginia Case Management System (VaCMS)
  • Strong policy comprehension, communication, and decision-making skills
  • A commitment to public service and a passion for helping others
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED/HSE and completion of government assistance programs.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in eligibility determination for social services programs.
  • Must be able to provide a certificate of completion for Phase I and Phase II.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certification in Phase Policy Training for TANF, Medicaid, and Food Stamps
  • Experience in eligibility determination for government assistance programs administered by the Virginia Department of Social Services
  • One of SPIDeR, VaCMS, DMIS, and MMIS experience in determining Eligibility in the Intake unit
