About The Position

The Benefits Manager will play a critical role in developing and managing employee benefits programs for Evergreen Holdings Corporation and its subsidiary companies. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in benefits administration, compliance, and employee engagement within a multi-employer organizational structure. The ideal candidate will ensure that benefits offerings, including health and wellness programs, retirement plans, and leaves of absence, are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with the goals of attracting and retaining top talent within the overall organization. This position is intended to initially be hired at Hunt Electric Corporation and transition to Evergreen Holdings Corporation in mid-late 2026.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a senior specialist or managerial role.
  • Experience leading benefits administration and strategy within a multiple entity and multi-state organization.
  • Experience managing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
  • Experience managing leaves of absence, including state specific leaves and disability programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits regulations, leave laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience transitioning a fully-ensured plan to a self-funded plan is preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration in a union and non-union construction industry preferred.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist), PHR/SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Experience with Workday Benefits preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), life insurance, disability, wellness initiatives, leaves of absence, and other perks.
  • Evaluate and recommend enhancements to benefits offerings to ensure competitiveness within the industry and alignment with employee needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align benefits strategies with organizational goals and budgets.
  • Oversee day-to-day and annual open enrollment administration of benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Support the ESOP through the annual valuation, recordkeeping and administration, repurchase liability, distributions and diversification transactions and ESOP education.
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate and timely benefit deductions and accurate benefit plan tax set up.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Administer and oversee all leave programs, including FMLA, parental leave, short-term and long-term disability, personal leaves, and other company-specific leave policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, including proper documentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave requests, processes, and return-to-work plans.
  • Partner with HR and managers to ensure smooth transitions for employees on leave and upon their return, during the ADA accommodation process and transitional light duty work plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, MN Paid leave, HIPAA and other applicable laws.
  • Perform all annual compliance and non-discrimination testing, Prepare, process and file required reports and documentation, including 5500s, plan documents, annual notices and plan audits.
  • Maintain accurate records of benefits-related activities.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes that may impact benefits programs and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging communication materials to educate employees about benefits options, leave policies, and changes.
  • Conduct benefits orientations, open enrollment sessions, and wellness initiatives to promote employee understanding and participation.
  • Gather employee feedback to continuously improve benefits offerings and address concerns.
  • Partner with HR, payroll, and finance teams at subsidiaries to ensure seamless integration of benefits programs and leave management.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to HR staff and benefits administrators as needed within the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on benefits-related matters, offering data-driven insights and recommendations.
