About The Position

Are you a detail-oriented payroll and benefits professional who enjoys helping employees navigate important career milestones? We are looking for a Benefits Coordinator to play a key role in supporting employees through retirement and pre-retirement planning, ensuring they receive accurate information, expert guidance, and exceptional service every step of the way. As a Benefits Coordinator, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the employee experience while working with a diverse group of internal partners across the Organization. As BC Ferries continues to support a growing number of employees approaching retirement eligibility, this role offers the chance to help employees transition confidently into retirement while shaping and improving the processes that support them. Requirements

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience administering payroll and employee benefits, including working with payroll and timekeeping systems, related data processes, and employee support
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience interpreting and applying complex collective agreements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex policies, procedures, and agreements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including reporting and data analysis functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands
  • Strong attention to detail, including experience auditing records and documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee retirement and pre-retirement processes, including preparing and reviewing retirement bonus and pre-retirement leave calculations
  • Advise employees on retirement options in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and applicable agreements
  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide clear, timely, and confidential support regarding benefits, retirement provisions, and entitlements
  • Prepare retirement calculations, retirement letters, records of employment (ROEs), accrual reports, and other benefit-related documentation and reporting
  • Investigate discrepancies, review data for accuracy, and facilitate solutions for complex retirement scenarios
  • Collaborate with People Experience, Accounting, Scheduling Services, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee information and payroll transactions
  • Track and manage employee requests, ensuring inquiries are resolved within expected timelines while delivering a positive employee experience through exceptional service and communication
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation updates, and operational efficiencies within Payroll services
