About The Position

The benefits coordinator answers employees' questions and records employee enrollment in benefit programs and assists with the administration of multiple leave of absence programs. This role involves communicating benefit plans to new hires, during annual open enrollment, and regarding plan changes. It also includes monthly on-site plant breakroom presence and other benefit-related communication/education campaigns throughout the year. The coordinator is responsible for conducting new hire benefits orientation multiple times per week, following up with employees to confirm enrollments are completed by deadlines, and performing data entry of new enrollments into the HR system. Additionally, the role involves answering employee benefit questions, investigating and resolving questions regarding healthcare service payments by contacting service providers and benefit plan providers, reviewing reports from plan providers for accuracy, and maintaining employee benefit files. The position also verifies eligibility for FMLA/LOA policies, refers employees to the third-party leave manager, explains the leave process, and assists the Leave Coordinator with tasks such as entering line passes for LOA, responding to updates from the third-party leave manager, sending return-to-work letters, collecting insurance payments during LOA, and confirming appropriate use of intermittent leave.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of E-Mail software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify for the company driver program.
