Summary: The benefits coordinator answers employees' questions and records employee enrollment in benefit programs by performing the following duties and assists with the administration of multiple leave of absence programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for communication of benefit plans to new hires, annual open enrollment, plan changes, monthly on-site plant breakroom presence, and other benefit related communication/education campaigns throughout the year. Responsible for conducting new hire benefits orientation multiple times per week. Follows up with employees throughout the month and confirms all enrollments are completed by deadline for each eligible employee. Data entry of new enrollments into HR system. Answers employee benefit questions. Investigates and resolves questions regarding payment for healthcare services by contacting service providers and benefit plan providers. Reviews reports from plan providers to verify accuracy and resolve differences. Enters benefits-related data into computerized human resources information system. Maintains employee benefit files.. Verifies eligibility for FMLA/LOA policies. Refers employees to third party leave manager and explains the leave process to employees. Assists Leave Coordinator as needed with entry of line passes for LOA, responding to updates/requests from third party leave manager, sending out return to work letters, collecting payments for insurance while on LOA, and confirming that intermittent leave is being taken appropriately. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Employee may be required to travel short distances occasionally. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify for the company driver program.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of E-Mail software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
