Benefits Communications Specialist Summary This position is responsible for the production, maintenance and dissemination of benefits communications documents and related internal training efforts based on these communications. The position requires significant subject matter knowledge on a range of Insperity health and welfare benefits product offerings, guided by policy and focused on daily operations that involve close attention to content accuracy, Insperity brand and editorial standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, journalism or related field is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in communications or related field(s) as a writer/editor is required.
  • Portfolio of recent, professional writing samples is required.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with excellent English, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, composition and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to use available / appropriate software to create communications collateral, including print projects in Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint presentations, complex charts and forms using Word or Excel, and interactive, hyperlinked PDFs using Adobe Acrobat or FlipBook software.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and welfare benefits products.
  • Ability to understand and communicate multiple business functions and complex employee benefits and health and welfare insurance concepts and products in clear, concise, plain English.
  • Understand and correctly apply elements of style and graphic standards.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate multi-faceted projects, and organize workflow under narrow time limitations.
  • Experience with print, fulfillment and other vendor relationships to coordinate and produce complex communications projects from start to finish.
  • Analytical problem solving, with ability to draw appropriate conclusions from information and research, and able to implement solutions effectively.
  • Able to command control of a problem and organize resources and knowledge to attain solutions in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Strategic, intuitive, creative thinker who applies knowledge to develop and maintain complex benefits communications and process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • One to five years of experience in benefits administration or related field(s) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports operational communications and training efforts of the Health & Welfare Services Department, including the maintenance and dissemination of external and internal online health and welfare benefits content.
  • Maintains expertise of Insperity Health & Welfare product offerings and stays abreast of plan changes.
  • Edits, reviews and manages the storage and retrieval of print and presentation benefits materials, including booklets, internal Web content, client and employee benefits communications and presentations.
  • Creates supporting user documentation, instructions and procedures.
  • Follows established internal processes to appropriately engage and work effectively with other Insperity business units (including Legal, Marketing, Technology, the Customer Relationship COE and other designated oversight committees and subject-matter departments) to develop, produce, approve and disseminate accurate and informative benefits content.
  • Ensures that all internal review and advance notification procedures are followed.
  • Creates communications and training materials related to new benefits offerings, plan or product changes, and training opportunities for management review and editing, as appropriate.
  • Distributes communications, as scheduled or required.
  • Ensures all published benefits content (online, print and presentation) conforms to AP Style and corporate Insperity editorial style guidelines and branding standards.
  • Executes the production of new benefits communications documents / projects / processes by working closely with applicable business units, to ensure thorough internal review and timely completion of all benefits communications.
  • Monitors and analyzes online enrollment, orientations and knowledge management functions (among others) in order to assess need(s) for new or modified internal staff training and client/employee communications regarding benefits products or administrative issues.
  • Works with Insperity Document Production Center and/or external vendors to coordinate print production, mailing fulfillment and other communications vehicles, as needed.
