About The Position

The Benefits Associate role is responsible for the operational administration of the firm’s health and welfare benefit programs, with primary accountability for the day-to-day administration of the firm’s self-insured medical plans. This role serves as a key member of the Benefits team, supporting plan administration, employee inquiries, vendor coordination, reporting, compliance, and operational excellence across the firm’s benefits offerings. The position partners closely with Finance, Payroll, and external vendors to ensure accurate administration, strong financial controls, and a seamless employee experience. The role also contributes to benefits initiatives and process improvements that support the continued evolution of the firm’s programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 2-6 years of experience in benefits operations & administration, finance, or related analytical roles, with direct experience supporting self-insured medical plans strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with benefits billing, financial reconciliation, claims funding, and vendor invoicing processes.
  • Working knowledge of self-insurance mechanics, including stop-loss, claims funding, and IBNR reserves.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (preferably Workday).
  • Advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with automation tools.
  • Highly analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and data management acumen with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex, multi-system data environments, with a bias toward process improvement and automation.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Payroll, and external vendors.
  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to own end-to-end processes and drive issues to resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day administration and operational processes of the firm's self-insured medical plans, including claims funding, plan budgeting, billing, and financial controls.
  • Support the administration of the firm's health and welfare benefit programs, including eligibility, enrollments, life events, leave administration, dependent verification reviews, and employee inquiries.
  • Partner with Finance and Payroll to ensure accurate benefits funding, carrier and vendor billing, payroll deductions, financial reconciliations, and data integrity across systems.
  • Develop and deliver reporting and analysis related to benefits operations, enrollment activity, claims funding, vendor performance, and employee participation.
  • Support annual Open Enrollment activities, including system testing, employee communications, enrollment reviews, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as a key operational contact for benefits vendors and administrative partners, supporting service delivery, implementations, and ongoing issue resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, improve data quality, and elevate the employee experience through process improvements and automation.
  • Execute day-to-day compliance activities across benefits operations, including monitoring eligibility, enrollments, and plan administration against ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA requirements; maintaining accurate records; and supporting audits and reporting to ensure processes remain controlled, accurate, and compliant.
