About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking individuals committed to service, community, and teamwork to join their team. As an Eligibility Interviewer, you will determine eligibility for Arizonans needing Nutrition Assistance, Medical Assistance, and/or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with decision-making skills, the ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced call center environment, and who can provide quality interaction and communication with clients. This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona, based on business needs and performance. Requirements

  • Knowledge of customer service practices.
  • Proficiency in computer navigation of various software applications, including Google Suite or Microsoft.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-friendly, empathetic, and patient demeanor.
  • Computer experience: typing, navigating, and using multiple computer systems on multiple screens while talking to clients by phone.
  • Core math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to evaluate and make appropriate decisions or determinations.
  • Ability to access, maintain, review, and interpret information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as interact with others on a team.
  • Ability to review and explain eligibility requirements with applicants of diverse backgrounds and guide them to resources.
  • Successfully pass background and reference check.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience performing eligibility reviews.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.
  • A High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals and families by phone in a call center environment.
  • Attend paid classroom training with on-the-job training.
  • Provide excellent customer service by phone to individuals and families facing challenging situations.
  • Collect and gather information to conduct interviews for eligibility determinations for Medical Assistance, Nutrition Assistance, and Cash Assistance.
  • Complete the application and interview process by entering data on a computer and accessing multiple screens while on the phone with clients.
  • Adhere to agency standards in a high-volume call center, measured by metrics, attendance, service levels, accuracy, and timeliness.
