About The Position

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration and delivery of employee benefits programs for Care New England health system. Functions as a liaison between vendors and employees and advises employees on eligibility, coverage, and other benefit matters while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years benefits experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in administering benefit programs, including medical, dental, life/disability and other types of insurance programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • Knowledgeable of employment law and regulations as it relates to employee benefits.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as ability to diffuse.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization in a clear and professional manner.
  • Must be able to adjust to a frequently changing, fast-paced environment, pivot as needed and work on multiple projects/priorities in parallel.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Benefits professional certification, such as CEBS or CBP, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides benefits support to employees. Responds to a variety of inquiries and troubleshoots issues, providing timely response and resolution, while providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of multiple benefit plans and complex plan designs.
  • Ensures accuracy of enrollment data, including weekly transfer of payroll files, by performing audits and quality checks.
  • Responsible for administering tuition reimbursement program; ensures efficient completion of requests and maintains detailed tracking.
  • Monitors benefit payment information for employees on leaves of absence, communicates payment schedules, collects and processes incoming payments while coordinating with internal departments.
  • Reconciles various benefit carrier invoices for accuracy and processes for timely payment.
  • Supports processes for annual Open Enrollment, including user testing and enrollment site review.
  • Assists with creation and review of benefit communication materials.
  • Attends in-person events as needed, such as annual benefit fairs and new employee orientations.
  • Assists with ACA reporting and compliance.
  • Preserves and protects confidentiality of all employee and system information.
  • Assists with various projects as needed.
