About The Position

In this role, you will conduct client interviews and perform in-depth assessments to determine eligibility for financial and medical assistance programs. You will navigate complex benefit program policies with confidence and accuracy, use VaCMS and other systems to process applications, track cases, and document outcomes. You will make timely, sound decisions and ensure all required documentation is accurate and up to date. You will also refer clients to public and private resources that support their overall well-being, while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Prior experience determining eligibility for TANF, SNAP, and Medicaid
  • Proficiency in Virginia Case Management System (VaCMS)
  • Strong policy comprehension, communication, and decision-making skills
  • A commitment to public service and a passion for helping others
  • High school diploma or GED/HSE and completion of government assistance programs
  • Four years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards
  • Completed state required SNAP and Medicaid program training

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certification in Phase I & II Policy Training for TANF, Medicaid, and Food Stamps
  • 3 years’ experience in eligibility determination for government assistance programs administered by the Virginia Department of Social Services or DSS
  • Experience in the Intake/On-going unit with SPIDeR, VaCMS, DMIS, and MMIS
