About The Position

Perform a variety of operations in the repair of aircraft engine components. This role involves deburring, benching, and finishing operations using various hand tools, small power tools, and basic machine tools. The position also requires operating specialized equipment such as grit blast, shot peen, vapor blast, resistance tack welder, hot form furnace, press equipment, and tumbling equipment. Additionally, the role involves using standard and special gauges, maintaining records, instructing and training others, and using acid-etch and cleaning equipment like ultrasonic tanks, back flushers, waterflow machines, and drying ovens. Precision marking equipment, part marking, calculation and measurement of powder mixes for coating, basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of machines, and assembly/disassembly operations are also key functions. The role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
2 years’ experience with basic use of computers, applications, and keyboarding (e.g., email, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
2 years’ experience in the use of shop math as necessary, including fractions, and decimals
2 years’ experience operating material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain forklift license as required
Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 40 pounds will be lifted with assistance.
Ability to pass Bench Test and OAP Inspection Test (including basic math and measuring instruments)
Ability to work in a noisy environment and wear appropriate safety gear such as eye protection and safety shoes for extended periods of time.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must meet the status of a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee or refugee status).

Nice To Haves

Experience operating EDM machines
Demonstrate ability to use standard precision measuring instruments
Experience in benching operations of aircraft engine components
Understanding of how to calculate and weigh accurate powder mixes for coating of aircraft engine components
Experience operating various hand and power tools (die grinders, hand baders, etc.) and basic machine tools and equipment
Ability to learn and operate material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain forklift license as required

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of deburring, benching, and finishing operations with hand tools, small power tools, and basic machine tools such as air guns, air grinders, belt sanders, floor baders, surface grinders, etc.
Operate grit blast, shot peen, vapor blast, resistance tack welder, hot form furnace and press equipment, and tumbling equipment.
Use standard and special gauges.
Maintain necessary records.
Instruct and train others as required and perform related duties.
Use of acid-etch equipment.
Operate cleaning equipment such as ultrasonic tanks, back flushers, waterflow machines and drying ovens.
Use of precision marking equipment, including vibropeens and dotpeen markers.
Perform cleanup of assigned work area.
Perform functions such as part marking.
Calculation and measurement of powder mixes for coating of aircraft engine components.
Perform basic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and adjustments to assigned machines and equipment.
Ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations.
Assist other classifications as directed.
