About The Position

As a Bellperson, you will assist incoming and outgoing guests in transporting luggage to and from guest rooms. This role involves promptly and safely transporting luggage, securing and tagging luggage upon request, ensuring claim checks are matched with luggage tags, and reporting lost items immediately. The Bellperson will also deliver checked items to departing guests, maintain the luggage and baggage storage room, and promote hotel facilities, outlets, and services. Additionally, they will provide guests with information about local attractions and activities, respond to guest complaints, and inform supervisors of any major issues. Promoting teamwork and quality service through interdepartmental coordination is essential. Duties may also include inspecting and clearing hotel entrance areas, accepting dry cleaning, delivering laundry or mail, and responding to special requests.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Some guest service experience or hotel experience preferred.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Carrying, pushing, or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Moving about the public areas.
  • Handling objects such as luggage.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling.
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with clients, guests and employees.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing departmental records/logs, reading road signs, etc.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and safely transport luggage to and from guest rooms.
  • Secure, tag and store luggage at guest’s request.
  • Ensure all claim checks are matched with luggage tag on the item being retrieved.
  • Inform the Front Desk Manger or Manger on Duty and Security immediately of lost items.
  • Deliver checked items to departing guests in the absence of a door or bell attendant.
  • Maintain luggage and baggage storage room in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Explain and promote hotel facilities, outlets, and services to guest and provide information to guests regarding local attractions and activities.
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints. Inform supervisor of major problems, complaints, disturbances or dissatisfied guests.
  • Promote team work and quality service through daily communications and coordination with other departments.
  • Regularly inspect and clear hotel entrance and surrounding areas of litter and debris.
  • Accepting dry cleaning from guest and secure for pick up by dry cleaning company.
  • Delivering clean laundry or guest mail/messages, or sundry items to guest rooms.
  • Responding to other special requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
