About The Position

The Bell Captain is the leader of all bell persons. Duties for this position include: leading, organizing, and training the bell person team, greeting guests with a smile, arranging transportation for guests, unloading and delivering luggage to guest rooms, and responding to guest inquiries with enthusiasm. The Bell staff are the first and last to interact with guests and therefore have the opportunity to begin and end their visit with excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English preferred
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred)
  • 3 years previous experience as bell person preferred
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests
  • Active Listener; ability to listen intently to guests while providing service
  • Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant friendly way
  • Knowledge of guest service operations
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to position independently
  • Ability to implement operations to achieve service excellence
  • Ability to work and lead in a diverse service setting
  • Ability to work and operate a handheld tablet
  • Ability to lead a team effectively and efficiently

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests warmly upon arrival and provide a welcoming first impression
  • Unload, transport, and load guest luggage upon arrival and departure
  • Assist guests with any needs, questions, or special requests
  • Assist guests with parking
  • Answer guest and internal phone calls courteously and efficiently
  • Be aware of daily hotel activities, group and VIP arrivals
  • Assist front desk staff with check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquires
  • Assist housekeeping, beach service and other departments as needed
  • Assist with any other reasonable request
  • Ensure the lobby, bell closet and work areas as well as departmental equipment are always clean and presentable
  • Act as a liaison between the Front desk management to the bell team
  • Assign duties and supervise day-to-day work of the bell team
  • Attend leadership meetings
  • All other duties as assigned
