About The Position

The Behavioral Wellness Coach (BWC) plays a vital role in supporting student well-being and academic success by promoting positive behavior strategies and providing classroom-based behavioral support. This position serves collaborates with educators, school staff, and clinical supervisors to implement PBIS-aligned interventions and reinforce emotionally regulated, pro-social behavior among students. Supervision is provided by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Program Coordinator. BWCs hold Wellness Coach and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certifications and are trained in applied behavior analysis, classroom coaching, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Active Wellness Coach Certification (required)
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification (required) OR completion of RBT 40 hour course
  • Experience in classroom-based behavioral support
  • Familiarity with PBIS, ABA, and school-based behavior intervention plans
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and use behavioral data to inform interventions
  • Skilled in behavior management and motivational techniques
  • Emotionally intelligent and culturally responsive
  • Valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass background checks and meet all school-site clearance requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office systems.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic medical records.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Ability to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with patients.
  • Ability to model positive behavior and demeanor.
  • Understanding of youth/adult/adolescent development and family systems
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with patients and families of various backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, behavioral health, or related field preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in school and classroom settings.
  • Use data-informed strategies to improve student emotional regulation and reduce disruptive behaviors.
  • Provide direct support to students during escalations and behavioral crises.
  • Model functionally appropriate replacement behaviors to meet students’ needs in socially acceptable ways.
  • Develop and demonstrate reinforcement strategies tailored to student interests.
  • Complete Threat Assessments.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design and implement Behavior Action Plans, including tools like token systems and visual supports.
  • Model behavioral strategies and techniques in the classroom for teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Train staff on behavioral data collection, reinforcement techniques, and plan implementation.
  • Serve as a key liaison between school sites, administrators, families, and the Villages of California clinical team.
  • Conduct behavioral observations and collect data to guide interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and student progress.
  • Participate in collaboration and care coordination meetings (e.g., COST teams).
  • Provide linkage to resources and additional services as needed.
  • Provide immediate crisis response and de-escalation support on-site.
  • Collaborate with the BCBA and Program Coordinator to modify intervention plans based on student needs.
