Under the direction and supervision of the program director, the Behavioral Support Worker will provide in-home interventions designed to stabilize youth and empower caregivers. Behavioral Support Workers will support youth who either meet the criteria for autism spectrum disorder, have a history of inpatient hospitalizations, or are experiencing heightened emotional or behavioral needs, or a combination of the three. Behavioral Support Workers will support youth in developing social and daily living skills, managing behaviors, and improving overall emotional regulation. Behavior Support Workers will coach and educate both youth and their caregivers on de-escalation techniques, social-emotional learning, and typical child development. The Behavioral Support Worker will assist in practicing skills, serving as a role-play partner, and highlighting the youth’s strengths to ensure they are gaining confidence and competence in their interactions. Behavioral Support Workers will also work in an office out of the Teen Wellness Center, and at times will interact with or provide support for the youth in the center or their caregivers.
