About The Position

Strategies to Empower People is seeking full-time Behavioral Support Staff (Enhanced Direct Support Professional) to provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities who require a high level of behavioral and/or medical supports. This role involves working one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability and experiences consistent, high behavioral challenges or medical challenges. The clients live in their own homes, and the Behavioral Support Staff's role is to provide direction and hands-on support with all client needs, ensuring clients actively participate in their own care and daily activities such as eating, cleaning, bathing, and toileting. The position also includes assisting with assessment and behavioral intervention, with specific client training provided on top of general intervention training (Pro-Act). The work is performed in the Greater Sacramento area, in the client's home and community, with a focus on enabling clients to engage with their community despite behavioral challenges.

Requirements

  • At least six months of verifiable experience working with people who have regular behavioral and/or medical challenges.
  • Valid California Driver License (may be required depending on the individual supported).
  • Current auto insurance (may be required depending on the individual supported).
  • Clean and reliable vehicle (may be required depending on the individual supported).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience beyond six months is reviewed in relation to wage offered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities requiring high levels of behavioral and/or medical support.
  • Work one-on-one with clients who have Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and significant behavioral or medical challenges.
  • Support clients in their own homes, ensuring they live independent lives.
  • Provide direction and hands-on support with all client needs, including eating, cleaning, bathing, and toileting, while ensuring client participation in these activities.
  • Assist with assessment and behavioral intervention for the client.
  • Ensure clients' behavioral challenges do not prevent them from engaging with their community.
  • Facilitate community engagement for clients by getting them out of the home and into the world.
