The Behavioral Support Assistant role involves providing essential individualized and group support to individuals, with a particular focus on those experiencing behavioral challenges. Key aspects of the position include active participation in meetings with individuals and support staff, ensuring the program environment is maintained in a neat, organized, and safe manner, and diligently monitoring the health and well-being of individuals. The assistant is responsible for promptly reporting any health changes or pertinent information to Program Administrators, Supervising Psychologists, Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS), and nurses, and immediately contacting the medical department in emergencies. Daily duties encompass assisting individuals with mobility (e.g., in/out of vehicles, transferring/lifting), personal hygiene, and toileting as needed. The role also requires scheduling and planning activities tailored to individual needs and choices. Administrative tasks include submitting detailed written reports, such as Case Action Summaries, on significant events across various settings (program, community, residential), and performing other required written assignments and computer data entry. Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all individual information is crucial. The assistant will implement prescribed behavior plans, consult with supervisors, and adhere to universal precautions for bodily fluids. Depending on specific training, the role may involve driving agency vehicles and requires maintaining certifications in CPR, First Aid, SCIP, and AMAP, with the potential use of one's own vehicle for agency business.
