About The Position

Behavior Support Aide's are responsible for working closely with children by implementing their customized behavior support plans and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. This is a seasonal, full-time position with orientation on July 27th-29th and tentative start of full-time hours on August 14th. The pay rate is $19/hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviors, providing individualized support and understanding of behavior management techniques required.
  • Must be free and clear of all child abuse and neglect charges.
  • Satisfactory criminal records check in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and/or have reliable means of transportation to and from work.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical that includes a drug screening.
  • Able to pass employment physical demonstrating ability to stoop, crawl, kneel, bend and to lift, carry and hold child of 40 to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 30 minutes, walk and run up to 20 feet.
  • Ability to maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience with children ages birth to five preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support in classrooms when there are significant behavioral or social-emotional concerns, using trauma-informed practices and Conscious Discipline strategies.
  • Assist in the set-up of the learning environment and daily routines to support individual child’s needs.
  • May attend team meetings with parents, teachers, and ECMHT to create intervention plans and follow up with staff and parents.
  • Collaborate with the Behavior Support Coach to develop behavior strategies.
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff trainings.
  • Attend specialized professional development.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for children.
  • Actively supervise children during play, nap, meals, and field trips.
  • Follow all Authorized Release procedures.
  • Model appropriate behaviors and mediate conflict between children.
  • Be familiar with IFSP’s or Behavior Action Plans for children with special needs to assist with implementation.
  • Fully integrate dual language learners in all aspects of classroom schedule.
  • Establish positive and productive relationships with families.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents, guardians, and coworkers.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work cooperatively and collaborate with other staff.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
