Behavioral Intervention Specialist- Churchville Chili Central School District
About The Position
The Center for Youth, a non-profit organization founded by youth for youth, partners with local school districts to provide academic instruction and socio-emotional support to students who commit infractions. The goal is to reduce repeat offenses by creating opportunities, removing barriers, and promoting social justice. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will establish a youth/family/faculty-friendly presence within the school, fostering cooperative relationships and direct communication. Help Zones are designed to intervene in crises, deescalate situations, and facilitate students' return to the classroom within 5-30 minutes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1-3 years' related experience OR equivalent combination.
- Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development.
- Strong knowledge of risk reduction and protective factors.
- Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development principles.
- Strong crisis management and behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Client advocacy skills.
Nice To Haves
- Master's Degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administers, coordinates, and oversees the program on-site.
- Works in tandem with School Administrators to ensure services are based on identified needs and meets with administrators regularly.
- Attends School Support Service meetings.
- Delivers a restorative-based system.
- Creates and oversees data collection and program evaluation processes.
- Provides monthly reports to the Director of School Based Programs.
- Coordinates requests for Prevention Education services.
- Conducts outreach and information dissemination.
- Facilitates referral and referral readiness.
- Provides immediate response and support.
- Delivers prevention education with fidelity, including asset-building groups, research-based curricula, and planned-duplication booster sessions.
- Engages in asset development (risk reduction and protective factor) activities.
- Provides alternatives to suspension services, including pre/post assessment and transitional services.
- Acts as an agency ambassador and liaison at meetings, open houses, and health fairs.
- Conducts research and designs services, including outcome and impact tracking.
- Develops and maintains resource files, lesson plans, and training aids.
