This position works under clinical supervision and requires considerable knowledge of behavioral healthcare programs and program techniques. As a member of an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team, the provider is responsible for assigned mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders. The role involves completing screenings, including detailed mental health screens and risk assessments (such as suicide watch assessments when within scope of practice and allowable per credentialing board, ODRC policy, and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional if not independently licensed). The provider conducts individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan, using clinical intervention strategies within their scope of practice and directed by supervision. They also provide psychosocial group interventions, mental health liaison services for an assigned caseload (monitoring offender progress with treatment plan goals), and psychosocial needs and treatment assessments as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning. Responsibilities include completing transfer and discharge summaries, consulting with other institution staff regarding inmate adjustment and service needs, initiating and maintaining contact with families and community agencies, and providing/seeking information relative to patient care and treatment. The role also involves making appropriate community referrals per the mental health treatment team and writing reports and/or documentation, including electronic documentation of all inmate contacts, mental health liaison progress notes, discharge plans, and miscellaneous forms as needed. Attendance at social work or counselor supervision meetings and in-service training sessions/workshops for professional development is required. The position may also involve teaching in-service sessions.
