About The Position

This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques. As a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, the role is responsible for the development and implementation of mental health interventions (e.g., psychological, social) for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders. The role involves developing specialized treatment plans and programs, intervention methods used by treatment teams to treat patients, and supervising, evaluating, and training social workers and/or counselors. The position also includes assigning caseloads, overseeing treatment activities of mental health social workers and/or counselors, and completing mental health risk assessments, including suicide watch assessments within their scope of practice for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals, directed by and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional. Additionally, the role provides social psychological services to patients, including advanced practice individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations, psychosocial assessments, and suicide prevention interventions. Documentation of evaluations, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Health Care Record is required. The position participates in and/or is responsible for the mental health services quality assurance program, initiates and maintains contact with families and community agencies, and provides and seeks information relative to patient care and treatment. Making appropriate community referrals, per the mental health treatment team, is also a responsibility. The role participates in personnel management tasks including recruitment, interview, and recommendations for hiring, and complies with all facility and DRC rules, policies, and procedures. Maintaining necessary data documents required by DRC and establishing and maintaining a working relationship with other facilities and agencies are also key functions. The position involves conducting in-service training, participating in continuing education programs, and attending conferences, workshops, and meetings as directed.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement mental health interventions.
  • Ability to develop specialized treatment plans and programs.
