About The Position

Cottonwood Spring Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic Behavioral Health Therapist to join their team. This full-time position, working Monday through Friday during day shifts, is crucial for providing exceptional care to patients facing mental health and addiction challenges. The role involves supporting the department's clinical, operational, and administrative needs within a fast-paced yet supportive environment. Cottonwood Springs, located in Olathe, KS, offers inpatient and outpatient programming, including detox, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults 18+.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or counseling or relevant state licensure required.
  • Accepting Psychologist with a master’s degree in psychology.
  • Accepting Married and Family Therapist (MFT) Master's degree with License.
  • Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
  • Current unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days.
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) required within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
  • Displays active involvement in the treatment planning process.
  • Provides family session counseling to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
  • Actively communicates with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
  • Demonstrates proactive communication with those involved with the patient’s treatment.
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff.
  • Demonstrates active communication with team members.
  • Effectively communicates treatment and length of stay (LOS) issues to Utilization Review (UR).
  • Completes appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
  • Demonstrates appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
  • Acts as a member of the team during crisis situations, assisting others to ensure patient safety.
  • Completes accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills.
  • Assists the care coordination department as requested.
  • Completes all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality and completes releases appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides by those standards.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
  • Displays active involvement in the discharge, transition, and after-care planning treatment processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
