About The Position

The Licensed Clinical Therapist (Behavioral Health Therapist) provides psychological support to patients and families in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. The therapist provides supportive counseling, psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, and appropriate interventions for patients with complex psychiatric, social, medical, and financial needs. The role coordinates patients’ and families’ complex psychosocial needs and supports the interdisciplinary team in helping them cope with illness, diagnoses, treatment, and other issues that may impede efficient patient care and quality outcomes. The therapist clinically assesses and evaluates mental, emotional, behavioral, and related distress that interferes with social and occupational functioning, using accepted diagnostic classifications, including the DSM. Responsibilities include biopsychosocial assessments and other evaluations; establishing treatment goals and objectives; planning, implementing, and evaluating counseling interventions; and providing psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and families. The therapist also evaluates social and family information to determine social intervention and treatment plans, assists patients and families with anxiety and stress, and provides education about adapting to diagnoses, illness, treatment, and discharge plans. The position documents assessments, treatment plans, and referrals; follows applicable billing and coding requirements; maintains professional education and licensure; and stays current with developments in mental health, addictions, co-occurring disorders, and relevant health-related issues. The therapist may provide clinical supervision to students or other team members as determined by the team and discussed with the director, and serves as a resource to the interdisciplinary team and patients and families on coverage, care coordination, and community resources.
