About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or designee, the Behavioral Health Technician provides direct and indirect patient care. The technician helps provide a clean, safe environment and maintains equipment and supplies. The role also participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One to two years of experience as a nursing assistant or mental health worker.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Current BLA certification.

Nice To Haves

• Crisis Prevention Intervention training.
• Additional languages.

Responsibilities

• Orient new patients to the unit.
• Record and process patient belongings at admission and discharge.
• Perform and record patient vital signs, intake, and output; notify the RN of any changes.
• Monitor patient compliance with pre- and post-procedure instructions under RN supervision.
• Continuously observe patient behavior, mental status, and activities; notify the RN of changes or unusual occurrences.
• Perform patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or health care errors.
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
• Perform other duties as required.
