About The Position

This is a full-time Overnight Behavioral Health Technician position at Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center (MMYTC), a nonprofit residential behavioral health treatment center serving adolescents with serious emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. Located in Arizona, MMYTC provides structured, trauma-informed, and clinically sophisticated care for youth who require intensive therapeutic support. Staff routinely treat vulnerable youth who have survived abuse, neglect and exploitation in their communities, offering a unique opportunity to provide life-saving care. The multidisciplinary team includes licensed therapists, behavioral health technicians, nurses, case managers, educators, and direct care professionals who work together to create safe, therapeutic environments where youth can stabilize, heal, and build lifelong skills. MMYTC is committed to trauma-informed, strengths-based treatment approaches, collaborative, team-oriented clinical care, professional growth and internal advancement, ethical, mission-driven nonprofit service, and a safe, structured residential environment. The center's evidence-based programming integrates individual, group, and family therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, substance use disorder treatment, specialized care for youth who are survivors of sexual exploitation, skills development and behavior management, accredited educational services, and discharge planning and community reintegration. They serve adolescents with complex trauma histories, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, co-occurring substance use, and other mental health diagnoses requiring 24/7 therapeutic support. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background check, and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have 2+ combined years of education or relative experience in Human Services.
  • Maturity, empathy and patience.
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to adjust to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety, accountability and security of campus.
  • Teach, coach and supervise students in activities of daily living including morning, bedtime and overnight procedures, hygiene and cleanliness, housekeeping, meals, intramurals, sports, academics, and extracurricular activities both on and off campus.
  • Observe the peer culture for patterns of behavior indicating progress or regression in the program.
  • Observe individual student behavior over time and recognize progress towards treatment goals.
  • Effectively communicate, both written and orally.
  • Follow and implement individual treatment plans for all students.
  • Recognize escalating behaviors and intervene at the appropriate level to ensure safety and security.
