Children's Behavioral Health Tech
About The Position
Community Counseling Center (CCC) is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) for its Cottonwood facility, a 16-bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients aged 7-18. This program offers an intensive residential treatment milieu as an alternative to hospitalization. The BHT will provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma-informed approach. This role involves teaching functional living skills, collaborating with the treatment team, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED/HSE
- Must hold Valid Driver's License (Class E for Missouri or Class D for IL Residents - Obtain on start date) and current continuous auto insurance.
- Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
- Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
- Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
- Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
- Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
- Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
- Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include use of seclusion and/or restrain interventions to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
- Based on need, provide seclusion and/or restraint interventions in accordance with Pro-Act guidelines and agency policy and procedure.
- Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
- Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
