About The Position

The Behavioral Health/Support Specialist is responsible for conducting mental health assessments, implementing treatment plans, and coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team. This role requires strong clinical skills, cultural competence, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in mental health assessment and intervention, with knowledge of healthcare regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and cultural competence.
  • Ability to manage stress and crisis situations effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other documentation software.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA confidentiality and preventive measures to ensure patient safety.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and exhibit comprehensive job knowledge.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to operate essential office equipment.
  • Empathy and the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
  • Capable of making timely, independent decisions, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Collaborate with the pain management team and facilitate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Document assessment results in Excel and upload them to patient charts.
  • Manage and report patient safety concerns, including crisis situations, to ensure timely intervention.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, ensuring empathetic and clear interactions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties and projects related to Behavioral Health as assigned.
