About The Position

The Behavioral Specialist provides prevention, intervention, and behavioral health support services to students in a school-based setting. Working under the direction of the Program Manager, this position collaborates with students, families, school personnel, and community partners to improve student well-being, reduce barriers to learning, and promote academic, emotional, and social success. The Behavioral Specialist delivers evidence-based behavioral interventions, crisis support, care coordination, and psychoeducation while working toward independent clinical licensure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Must be within six (6) months of obtaining eligibility for Ohio LSW or LPC licensure at the Bachelor's or Master's level.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional documents; prepare reports and documentation; and communicate effectively with students, families, school personnel, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, solve practical problems, and make appropriate clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn electronic health record systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, families, or school-based behavioral health services preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based behavioral interventions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide school-based behavioral health services to children and adolescents.
  • Complete behavioral screenings and assist with biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavioral intervention plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group behavioral support as appropriate under supervision.
  • Teach coping skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, communication, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Respond to behavioral health crises using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, healthcare providers, and community agencies to coordinate services.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on clinical need.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in supervision, required trainings, and professional development.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and organizational performance goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
