About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Behavioral Health is responsible for managing and coordinating nursing care activities during clients' hospitalizations, adhering to organizational policies and procedures. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. The RN will direct and oversee the actions of other personnel involved in client care while maintaining professional accountability for nursing services provided.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Illinois nursing license required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S.N. preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in operating standard office equipment and computer software (i.e., MS Office applications, Meditech).
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Must be available to cover holiday and weekend shifts as required.
  • Adaptability to changes in assignments based on client care needs is essential.
  • Commitment to customer service and team collaboration is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients.
  • Maintain adaptability to new techniques without performance deficiencies.
  • Direct other healthcare personnel involved in patient care.
  • Engage in direct client care activities as required in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Provide accurate and timely implementation of physicians’ orders.
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications per established policy.
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and provide emergency care as required.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Evaluate staff performance and recommend appropriate action when necessary.
  • Identify problems and utilize critical thinking skills to develop effective solutions.
  • Develop and implement unit goals and objectives in collaboration with supervisors.
