About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing and coordinating nursing care activities during the hospitalization of clients in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, as well as directing and being accountable for other personnel involved in client care. The RN maintains accountability for all nursing care provided to clients and demonstrates competency in nursing judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Illinois nursing license
  • BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence and takes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
  • CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Ability to grasp and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting capability of up to 25 pounds when assisting clients.
  • Requires bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Must follow good body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Holiday coverage is required.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S.N. preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment and computer software, including MS Office and Meditech.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients.
  • Direct health care delivery and supervise other team members.
  • Communicate effectively and engage in regular talking and hearing.
  • Plan, organize, and direct nursing functions for clients on the unit.
  • Make assignments appropriate to the skill level of staff.
  • Identify problems and apply critical thinking skills to develop solutions.
  • Create a work environment that fosters growth and job satisfaction among personnel.
  • Implement and follow physician's orders accurately and promptly.
  • Provide and record medications in accordance with policies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of client information.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate emergency care as needed.
  • Participate in orientation and training for staff.
  • Evaluate personnel performance and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Assist in reviewing and revising organizational policies and procedures.
  • Utilize proper channels of communication.
  • Adjust interventions based on age-appropriate guidelines.
  • Set priorities to ensure safe client care.
  • Maintain safety protocols and monitor for harmful contraband.
  • Participate in group therapies and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Support organizational goals and objectives while promoting a collaborative team environment.
  • Attend training, in-services, and departmental meetings as required.
  • Must demonstrate adaptability to changes in work assignments and environment, ensuring compliance with client care needs.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with fellow healthcare team members and promote respect and courtesy towards others.
