About The Position

The Behavioral Health (BH) Respite Care Provider in the BH Respite Program provides compassionate care and supervision to children and adolescents with diverse needs, including behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for participants while accompanying participants in a variety of respite activities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma required.
  • Possesses skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics.
  • Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language.
  • Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; Applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
  • Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents and their families

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Mental Health or related field preferred.
  • Have and maintain a valid drivers license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a structured environment for youth to participate in the scheduled Respite activities.
  • Encourage participation in scheduled respite activities.
  • Transport BH Respite clients to and from the program activity.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children and adolescents in the program.
  • Facilitate structured activities such as arts and crafts, recreation, and life skills development.
  • Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution using effective strategies.
  • Maintain/ complete accurate documentation for all youth in attendance for respite services.
  • Communicate effectively with participant, program staff, families, and service providers.
  • Keep all required trainings, certifications and licensure current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
