About The Position

Work with riders in an innovative project among Chestnut Health Systems, Bi-State Transit, and St. Clair County Transit District. This is a full-time, team-oriented position in a non-clinical setting which may require evening, midnight, and weekend hours. The position centers around interactions with individuals with untreated physical, mental, and substance use issues in a non-clinical setting. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated skills in human services and in the field of services to adults
  • Demonstrated ability to work within the organization structure and accept supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively with consumers, treatment resources and the community
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Private automobile insurance
  • Must be insurable
  • Basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and an electronic medical record

Responsibilities

  • Work on a MetroLink train or transfer station in Illinois or Missouri.
  • Collaborate with MetroLink Ambassadors, Metro Transit Security, and local law enforcement.
  • Engage riders in dialogue.
  • Screen riders for needed services.
  • Develop therapeutic alliances.
  • Provide crisis assessments, counseling, and intervention.
  • Provide situational problem solving and skill development.
  • Transport riders to services as needed.
  • Must be able to work alongside a partner for the majority of work hours.
  • Must provide even-tempered responses to potentially volatile situations.
  • Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
