About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing to help provide day-to-day oversight of the physical and mental health needs of clients being served in the in/outpatient programs at St. Monica’s.

  • Regular and on-time attendance required.
  • Current credentials for state requirements of Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working with women’s health issues.
  • Ability to work under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Driver’s license and valid insurance required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic health screening and education to newly admitted clients in coordination with the Admission Coordinator, Director of Nursing, and Psychiatrist.
  • Obtain client records from outside providers as needed.
  • Contact psychiatric or nurse practitioner for orders.
  • Assist in coordinating all necessary health-related training for staff, including but not limited to, Medication Aide, First Aid, HIV/Aids, STD’s, Infection Control, Blood Pressure, and Drug Testing.
  • Attend monthly Mentor meetings to provide medical updates.
  • Monitor medication administration by mentors and run reports for Director of Nursing review.
  • Record and keep records of medication samples and complete quarterly inventory of medications with Director of Nursing.
  • Prepare charts and files for monthly pharmacy audit.
  • Participate in Health and Safety Committee and provide input as needed.
  • Provide medical on-call services.
  • Facilitate a medical/nursing education group and maintain materials for clients on health-related issues (Medical Aspects).
  • Follow up on medication refills and Patient Assistance Program under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
  • Be accessible to staff to answer any client’s medical and/or health-related issues.
  • Provide back-up for other medical staff within the scope of practice.
  • Perform daily triage of medical needs.
  • Schedule clients to meet with Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrist as needed.
  • Prepare schedule and clients’ charts before appointments for nurse practitioner and psychiatrist.
  • Follow up with orders, labs, and requests from nurse practitioner, psychologist, and psychiatrist after clients are seen.
