An exciting opportunity to become part of a nursing leadership team as a Behavioral Health Nursing (BHN) Supervisor. Under the supervision of the Outpatient BH Nurse Manager, provides clinical and administrative nursing supervision to BHN Clinician/Case Managers in the following programs: Intensive Case Management (ICM), Jail Diversion (JD), and Jail-Based Services at the Fairfax Adult Detention Center (ADC). Works closely with the programmatic supervisors of above-named programs to co-supervise BHN Clinicians while maintaining primary administrative responsibility. Provides nursing orientation and ongoing supervision of nursing activities including but not limited to psychiatric and medical history taking, medication administration, metabolic monitoring, primary care integration, nursing assessments, measuring vital signs and weights, providing education and resources for health promotion, and providing education related to chronic disease management. Supervises delivery of case management services in conjunction with the program supervisor and manager. Conducts site visits to ICM, ADC (occasionally) and JD programs on a rotating basis in addition to the assigned office location. Sites are in Reston, Fairfax (ADC) and Alexandria, in addition to office at Sharon Bulova Center in Fairfax. These nursing teams deliver office-based and community nursing and case management services to seriously mentally ill individuals needing to support progress toward their recovery goals. The BHN Supervisor will provide guidance and leadership to team members on interacting with insurance companies, pharmacies, Fairfax County Health Department and laboratories. This position is part of a robust multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses, mental health therapists, case managers and peer health coaches. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialized community-based services. Primary Work Location : Sharon Bulova Center (8221 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, Fairfax, VA). Scheduled weekly visits to nursing teams at other locations – Reston, Alexandria and Annandale. Occasional visit to Adult Detention Center as needed.
