About The Position

Aurora Community Services is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Mental Health Medical Biller to manage the revenue cycle for a multi-office practice. This role involves ensuring accurate insurance processing and acting as a supportive advocate for clients and clinical staff. Requirements

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 6+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a strong preference for mental/behavioral health billing.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms and clearinghouses.
Solid understanding of mental health terminology, CPT codes (e.g., 90837, 90834), and standard ICD-10 coding.
High emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and a calm, customer-service-oriented approach when handling financial discussions with clients.

Nice To Haves

Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) designation.
Experience navigating public insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare) alongside commercial panels.

Responsibilities

Process and submit electronic and paper insurance claims (CMS-1500) for outpatient mental health services.
Review daily claim rejections, manage explanation of benefits (EOBs), and appeal denied or underpaid claims.
Post insurance and client payments, manage account balances, and run aging AR collection reports.
Coordinate and track prior authorization requests.
Clearly communicate copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket estimates to clients with empathy and clarity.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and data security standards for private medical records.
