About The Position

The City of Greensboro is seeking a talented Behavioral Health Counselor to join their Behavioral Health Response Team. This role involves working alongside Greensboro Police Department (GPD) officers to provide compassionate, professional support to individuals experiencing mental or behavioral health situations. The position offers purpose-driven work, opportunities to help individuals in need, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including law enforcement and community partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a directly related field of study
  • 1 or more years of experience in mental health, intervention, stabilization and case management, or a "directly" related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Social Science, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a directly related field of study
  • Professional Licensure (LCSW, LCMHC, LCAS)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with law enforcement officers to respond to behavioral health-related emergencies.
  • Provide intervention, stabilization, and case management services for individuals in need.
  • Build trusting relationships with clients while connecting them to mental health services and resources in the community.
