About The Position

The Kaw Nation is seeking a qualified Behavioral Health professional to provide counseling services. This position involves developing individualized treatment plans, conducting counseling sessions for individuals, groups, and families, and utilizing various therapeutic approaches. The role requires coordination with other healthcare providers, monitoring client progress, and maintaining accurate client records. The counselor will also educate clients and families, identify behaviors interfering with recovery, refer clients to additional resources, and stay updated on the latest research in behavioral health. All new hires must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited program in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Current Oklahoma license as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed professional counselor (LPC), or similar credentials.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic techniques and treatment therapies related to behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Experience and willingness to treat across the life span (children through adult) and substance abuse disorders.
  • Some experience with ICD-10, and CPT coding.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver license and be insurable.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, pull, push and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of each client.
  • Providing counseling sessions to individuals, groups, and families across the lifespan.
  • Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and/or other therapeutic approaches to help clients understand and change their behaviors.
  • Coordinating with other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.
  • Monitoring clients’ progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educating clients and their families about mental health conditions and coping strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines.
  • Work with clients to identify situations or behaviors that interfere with their recovery.
  • Referring clients to additional resources and services, such as support groups, inpatient treatment facilities, or vocational training programs.
  • Staying informed about the latest research and developments in behavioral health.
