About The Position

Georgia Pines Community Service Board is seeking a leader for its Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in South Georgia. This public, not-for-profit organization provides behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disability services across six rural counties. The selected applicant will focus on prevention and/or behavior modification, working with individuals and groups to promote mental health. Responsibilities may include helping individuals with addictions, substance abuse, family issues, suicide, stress management, self-esteem, and aging-related mental health concerns. The role also involves scheduling consumers for testing, assembling test materials, administering tests, and developing/implementing behavior management and/or skills acquisition plans. Approximately 80% of services are expected to be provided in the individual's home. This position is an integral part of the ACT team and reports directly to the ACT Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience.
  • Certification as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselor's Association (GACA).
  • Must have a CAC or CADC. Will accept if registered to take the exam.
  • Must provide a telephone number where the applicant can be reached during the daytime.
  • Males between 18 and 26 years of age will be required to present proof of having registered with the Selective Services System or of being exempt from such registration.

Responsibilities

  • Helping individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse, family, parenting, and marital problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem, and issues associated with aging, mental and emotional health.
  • Scheduling consumers for testing, assembling test materials and administering tests.
  • Developing and implementing behavior management and/or skills acquisition plans.
