About The Position

This Behavioral Health Consultant position is housed in the Milwaukee Mental Health Walk-In Clinic, located on the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee campus. This clinic is the first of its kind in Wisconsin, and one of a few in the country. The clinic serves children and families with urgent mental health care needs. The clinic sees patients typically between the ages of 5-18 with a wide variety of urgent mental and behavioral health needs. Behavioral Health Consultants serve in a multidisciplinary team to care for children and families with urgent mental health needs. There are no treatment plans or discharge planning involved. The role involves seeing families, documenting, and completing the task. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high acuity and crisis type patients, has a positive attitude, and is able to make complex decisions while building collaborative relationships.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling or related field from an accredited program, plus 3000 hours post Master's experience, or PhD or PsyD from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program.
• Must have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Counselor (LPC) or Psychologist from the State of Wisconsin and satisfy continuing education requirements.
• Education and training in psychodiagnostic and therapeutic techniques in developmental psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, behavior modification and psychopathology.
• At least two (2) years behavioral health treatment experience with children and adolescents is required.
• Understands the medical population-developmental stages and chronic health conditions.
• Has clinical knowledge of primary care or specialty care pediatrics.
• Requires a comprehensive understanding of all psychological procedures normally acquired during two years of experience in evaluating and treating children, adolescents, and families.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• At least two (2) years post-licensure is preferred.
• Clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families; and experience in a pediatric primary care, or other pediatric medical setting is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with children and families, diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and trauma history preferred.
• Experience working with Electronic Health Record preferred.
